Mom is home!
My mom came home from the hospital last night. I think it was a little early but... what do I know. She is very weak and can be a little on the ornery side! I guess thats a good sign. It means she's healing. Other than that she seems ok. We are all taking turns taking care of her. I am leaving tomorrow for a very over due mini vacation. I need to get away and get away quick. Alanna is doing good. I haven't been able to spend as much time with her as I normally do and I can tell. She isn't going to bed like she use to and is not acting quite like she use to and I think its because I am not spending the time I usually do. Maybe with my mom now home things will get back to some what normal. She is growing like a little weed. She is losing her baby face and getting a little girly look to her now. I loved her little baby look. Those chubby little cheeks. She's still adorable.I probably won't post again until we get back we have LOTS to do to get ready. Have a GREAT weekend everyone.
Surgery went well!
Mom came out of her surgery well. She is doing good. If you ask her she isn't but...all the Dr.s say she is doing as expected. We are still hopeful that she will continue in her healing process and be home the middle of the week. Its been very hard on all of us watching her. The Dr. came out of surgery and told us she had to have a quadruple bypass. She is in another town and we are all taking turns in visiting her. Its been hard going back and forth and little Alanna doesn't understand why "Mama" is gone so much but thankfully she won't remeber these past two weeks. Another sad thing has happened to us that our dog Harley is again very sick. She started about 4 nights ago in the middle of the night having major seizures. We called our vet and he met hubby in the vets office at 2:00 am. We have her home now. But some decisions have to be made. It has left her blind. We love her very much she is so much part of our family. We are going to give it a try for awhile but we are going to talk to the vet on some issues we have. We will keep you all posted on the progress of both situations. If everything goes ok we are going on a mini vacation this coming weekend in our new motor home. I am so ready!!! We need to get away for a while. It will be a nice change for both Hubby and I.
Surgery Day! Please Pray
Surgery day today. We left Alanna at her Aunt Shelleys over night for the first time in her little life. She will wake up to smile at her Uunt Shelley and find that Mommy isn't there. Thats if she sleept the whole night through in a strange place. I thought it would be better than dragging her out at 3:00 a.m. Which is the time we had to get up to get back over there to see my mom before they wheeled her down the hallways into the surgery room. I am a little nervous but not as much as I thought I would be. I just don't think anything will be bad I just think she will do fine. I heard this was harder on the family than the patient. I hope and pray they are right. I will keep you all posted. Please pray for us and my mother as we go through this stage in our lives!
Its been awhile!
Sorry its been so long since I posted last. We have been cutting teeth. Those molers are terrible. She isn't eating hardly at all but drinking bottles like crazy. So I guess for now, until they are in, we will be still drinking bottles then I will try to break her of the bottle and just using sipping cups. My mother has her surgery on Friday. Please pray everything goes as planned and there are no complications and she can come home early! She is very scared. I will post about her condition as soon as I can but the hospital from which is having it done is a ways from us here and I will be on the road alot. So I will do my best. If I don't get a chance to I want to wish everyone a Happy Mothers Day!! I am excited that it is my 2nd Mothers day! I only had Alanna a very short time last year before we celebrated this. It was my first Sunday in church after having her. I dressed her all up in a very pretty dress and I can remember her socks were WAY too big for her little tiny feet. Now.... I have trouble getting socks to stay on her feet because she outgrows them so fast!! On a sad note, it will be our 1st Sunday without my husbands mom. Its the hardest thing! We loved her so very much and I think above all other holidays Mother's Day has to be the saddest. He is having a difficult time right now, getting through this weekend will be hard. Its the first time he's ever not been able to buy his mom something special for HER day, or bought her one of the sweetest cards ever!! She would never read his cards until everyone was gone, he always picked just the right one out for her. We Love and miss you very much Mom Milam!!
Very, very quiet
Yesterday, I always have a certain thing I do when I first come in from work. So I went about my routine with Alanna in the living room with all her toys, and she was playing with her loud toys and then everything got really quiet. That should have been my sign to go check but I was just in the next room and surely nothing MAJOR could be taking place so I gave her the benefit of the doubt (something you don't do with a baby I know) but..... so when I went to check on her she was sitting in the middle of our floor with what looked like hundreds of baby wipes surrounding her. I am sure it wasn't hundreds but it was alot and with every one she pulled out she would grunt low. Like it was lots of work. She was having the time of her life. Little things like that make being a mommy so special. How could you do anything but smile. I, of course, told her that wasn't nice but she was so proud of her success. I picked them all up and stuck them in a freezer bag and will use "as is".
We have some things we are doing this weekend. We have our 5th Wheel up for sale so we have to go put the sign on it and then maybe hit some garage sales. Then home for naps and cleaning. Nothing exciting. Alanna is cutting more teeth (the big ones) so she has a runny nose-all clear- and a low grade temp. She is in a good mood for now though.
"Dank DOO"
"Dank Doo" Alanna's new word for the day! Translation is Thank you. I have been trying to teach her this word for a long time! She finally got it but.... not quite how I imagined it. Its very Cute though! We are working on Please also. But she has got the thank you down pat. She throws her food on the floor now when she is done so we need to work on that too. I am sick and tired of having the dog get another meal. When she runs her entire arm across her high chair and yells "ah-oh" you know you better run quick! "Ah-oh" is also another sign to just simply check on her it really means what she says. Another cute thing she did last night is her daddy always sits on the floor and plays with her until she goes to bed. He had to go to the bathroom last night and she discovered he was out of the room and yells "DAD", "DAD" it was so much cuter to hear it than it is to write it down. I really wish you all could have heard it. Daddy didn't get to hear it either but I told him and they had a little talk about the "Dad-Daddy" thing. Like your are too young to call me dad its daddy for now lecture. Daddy is much better for a little one of just a year old. Dad seems too grown up. I love all the new things she is doing. She gets cuter (like thats possible) every day. One more thing that she did this week, she was at my moms because I was at work and she wanted some of those "Little people" figurines but the other little girl that my mom watches was playing with them. OF course she didn't want to share and so she put her arms around all of them. The little girl was on her knees leaning against the couch (just for the visual I thought you needed to know that) Alanna walked over behind her and pulled her pants down. Thats my girl. My mom said the little girl was just laughing--I am glad she thought it was funny! I thought it was hilarious!!! WE ARE PROUD!!!
